POLISH CAMPER ROUTES
This is a new initiative by the Polish Caravaning Group, which aims to create Poland's first professionally prepared routes for motorhomes.
The project responds to the growing popularity of caravanning and the need for safe, comfortable, and well-organized tourist infrastructure. The routes will lead through the most beautiful regions of the country, connecting local attractions, cuisine, and culture. All materials and markings will be available in three languages—Polish, English, and German—to attract both domestic and foreign tourists.
In Poland, more and more people are catching the motorhome travel bug. The Polish Caravanning Group Association has decided to respond to this trend and launch an initiative that is expected to increase and enhance traffic on the tourist market – Official Polish Motorhome Routes. What is it all about and why is it worth initiating such actions?
The motorhome boom – where did this idea come from?
Europe, including Poland, has been experiencing a real boom in motorhomes for several years. The market is growing rapidly – in 2024 alone, a record number of over 14,000 new and imported motorhomes and caravans were registered. Over the last five years, the total potential has grown by over 65,000 camping vehicles. Although not everyone agrees, caravanning is no longer a niche passion – it is a lifestyle that is becoming increasingly visible on Polish roads. Admittedly, we are still at a stage where this is mainly visible at the peak of the summer season, but after all, Krakow was not built in a day either.
And here's the problem: although the number of motorhomes is growing, there are still very few official routes and parking spaces in Poland. Neighboring Germany already has over 1.8 million registered camping vehicles, and the number of parking spaces and all the infrastructure needed by caravanning tourists is difficult to count. Everything is perfectly prepared, because the authorities of the German states realized long ago that tourists bring significant revenue to the budgets of entrepreneurs and local governments. Poland, on the other hand, despite its excellent conditions and enormous potential, still does not offer well-marked, well-planned official routes. The SPGC wants to change this.
