WHY IT'S WORTH IT
Why it is worth being part of Polish Camper Routes
Why are official motorhome routes a good idea?
Better organization and less chaos – Lack of infrastructure leads to so-called “wild” camping, which often ends in conflicts with the local community or intervention by the authorities. Official routes mean orderly traffic and greater peace of mind for everyone.
Safety and convenience – Routes with legal parking spaces, service points, and sanitary facilities mean greater comfort and predictability when traveling.
Supporting local communities – Motorhome owners spend their money in shops, restaurants, and on local attractions. The SPGC estimates that a single route with a thousand motorhomes per year can bring in as much as PLN 3-5 million for the region! And this is often during the off-season, when other forms of tourism come to a standstill.
Promotion of regional attractions – Routes can be themed: from vineyards to castles, cuisine, or wildlife. This type of travel is more interesting and allows you to get to know the region better.
Ecology and sustainable development – Trails can be designed to be environmentally friendly and not burden the most popular places. The dispersion of tourism means more benefits for small municipalities.
Accessibility for all – The SPGC has ensured that parking spaces and most attractions are adapted to the needs of people with disabilities so that everyone can enjoy the charms of travel.
How will this work in practice?
In June 2025, the Polish Caravanning Group Association developed a project which, after analysis, was submitted to the Ministry of Sport and Tourism in the form of an application for co-financing from the Physical Culture Development Fund. The very extensive application indicates that work on the preparation and implementation of two pilot motorhome routes is to be completed by November 21, 2025. The first two routes will help familiarize people with the subject and show how much we can gain from well-prepared infrastructure. The routes will be properly marked, equipped with multimedia, and accessible to everyone – also thanks to QR codes leading to digital materials, which are a great convenience in many areas of today's life. Importantly, the trails are to be connected with local tourist attractions – from visiting vineyards and wine tasting, through exploring castles, to regional delicacies such as Milicz carp and oscypek cheese. The plans assume that there will be something for everyone: families with children, novice campers, couples looking for romantic spots, nature lovers, seniors, domestic and foreign tourists.
